Killarney is a left-handed oval of just under 1 mile 1 furlong, it is a tight but fair track and is classed as undulating. There are six fences to a circuit on the chase course with three in the long home straight which is just under three furlongs, the run in from the last is around 200 yds. The fences are easy enough which is backed up by the fact that the rate of incompletions is low at around 8%. The standard times are a strange mix in that the NH flat races are some of the fastest around, yet both the hurdle and chase courses are thought to be the slowest in Ireland.
The drainage at the course is not particularly good and the ground can get very soft very quickly, therefore the going reports are usually at one end the scale or the other with genuine good to soft ground a rare occurrence.
